Gilded Disillusion

Today, I opened an email from a list of correspondents with whom I share a contact list. I do not know many of the folks on the list personally; as I have never met them off-line: they are all mostly, friends or relatives, of friends or relatives. Most of the time, I do not know even what color these people are, unless they say something that indentifies their race, or signals what race they may be; and NO, this is not one of these typing white scenarios.

The email I opened today however, gave me pause, because it helped put the totality of events last week - including the infamous South Carolina congressional representative’s display of contempt for the office of the POTUS, and President Obama - into perspective.
Here are a few comments from the email exchange:
*Stay in this one! Stay I say! An ass has stood in the chamber of power and called the first African American POTUS a liar! There is only one response - cold, mind numbing anger!

*And the anger is there and growing...It’s seething, and growing like never before.

*People are mad and not even sure, what they're mad at. Check out Serena Williams threatening to jam that ball up you know where...Check out the songwriter at those music awards...People are pissed like anyone would be when an ass draws back, digs deep, and launches a huge log of spit into our collective faces...That’s what this is about now pure and simple...

*FEEL IT Girl! Its there! And will be there until that racist bastard is gone from power...Until JOE WILSON is but a memory in the corridors of power there can be nothing but cold hard dispassionate anger. NUFF said:

*This mess has nothing to do with his policy but him. Their arguments don't even make sense. There are many white folk who can't believe how this President is being attacked at every turn. He could have excellent policies but they want him to fail. They know we need change but refuse to let Obama be the agent of anything good. Heck they were talking crazy mess about him speaking to children. Ronald Reagan talked to school kids about politics and communism, but that's OK, it was not Obama. George Bush lied to this nation and got us into a war we have no business in but nobody shouted him down when he addressed the nation. This mess going on is against Obama and it's just evil!
I will not argue with ignorant angry people, I will not have this mess in my e-box. I get angry enough watching the news.

Indeed, NUFF said!

It’s actually very astonishing. A self-fulfilling prophecy; one such as it is, historians will delight in chronicling.

The first African American President and an irreverent, somewhat obscure - except for his protuberant racist antics - snide little man.

It would have been better had the Congressman not equivocated his sorry apology! Pun intended.

You have me weighing my emotions!I live in a very positive place in my heart and I am just simply amazed at our people's suprise in all of this. But they really should see what it looks like outside the Country.

The people's view outside the country are seing us as losing credibility on the world stage...it's like saying "who gives them the right to tell us how to live"."Look at what they are doing to their own!"

I grew up in the South and I know what it really is...Just at a bigger scale.

Keep telling it like it is,,,

I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but, I wouldn't want to be Joe Wilson and face this crowd. I wanted to write how elegantly Congressman James Clyburn, also from South Carolina, argued for a rebuke to become permanently a part of Jim Wilson's congressional records. I might consider that later.

D W, the first two sentences are a lie, the next one is a mis-representation; the public option would force insurers to compete in price affordability. The next sentence is also a misrepresentation.I'm sure the wealth and medical need of the Canadian who crosses the border factors in. Finally the remaining sentences; I don't know whether to laugh or cry, laughing feels better.

Tafaraji, you are so right, I know how untrue all of this is, but it bothers me that they are spouting this kind of thing for this is how a lot of them who live in this region really feels this way.The

Jobs here were kept secret from POC from the 60s until the late 80s when the salaries dropped.

It just amazes me how these people ignore facts!

By the way I choose laughter..it does feel better,
